With a militant and exuberant temper, from all areas of Attica roused the center of Athens yesterday afternoon bringing to the fore their problems and needs and stated: <<¨Students do not rest”. They fight for their school and the life they deserve>>.

The students chanted slogans such as: <<Give money for Education>>, <<Multinationals out from our schools>>, <<The new generation has ideals, it won't be betrayed, it won't grovel>>, <<Free education is not a utopia, take the money from the plutocracy>> and invited to the strike on November 12  << On the 12th of November there will be panic, everyone on the streets – uprising>>. Furthermore, students unfurled their talent to an uplifting concert, performing different styles of music, while a group of students from the Art School interpreted act plays by Brecht and Chekhov.

The mobilization was the dynamic start of a week of students' action as mobilizations in different areas are planned in Town Halls, boroughs, to the Ministry of Education. On Thursday, November 5th they will participate to the demonstration along with university and technical schools' students in Athens where many university student committees have made the decision for the organization of the mobilization. On Saturday, November 7 there will be a Coordination of all schools of Athens with the participation of the elected of each the 5 and 15 – member student councils.

In the dynamic mobilizations there are students of schools from Thesaloniki who also held a militant march in the center of the city in 2/11 which concluded at the Ministry of Macedonia – Thrace. Generally, student demonstration took place in: Veria, Naousa, Ioannina, Arta, Corfu, Preveza, Chalkida, Lamia, Mitilin, Rhodes, Chios, Kalamata, Sparta, Nafplio, Xanthi, Serres, Kastoria, Ptolemaida, Kozani, Karditsa, Trikala, Patra, Agrinio, Pyrgos, Amaliada, Argostoli, Heraklion, Rethymno, Chania and while occupations happened in Volos, Grevena, Kilkis ad Ierissos of Chalikidiki.

The SYRIZA – ANEL government continues to maintain intact the heritage of the previous governments regarding the prosecutorial interventions and criminal oppression of the mobilizations. Thus, the Prosecutor's Office of Thesaloniki with its urgent letter to the Departments of the Western and Eastern Thesaloniki's Secondary Education, utilizing the Legislative Act Content that the SYRIZA – ANEL governement preserves, urges the principals, the teachers and the parents' associations to oppress the mobilizations themselves.... <<so that the need to launch criminal proceedings to resolve the problem to be avoided >> in reality threatening the students.

The Press Office of the CC of KNE, saluted the major school student mobilizations held in dozens of Greek cities on the 2nd of November and noted in its statement:

“KNE salutes the thousands of school students in Athens and all over Greece who today provided a first response, taking to the streets of struggle, struggling for their rights to education and life.

The members and friends of KNE will continue inside the schools to play a leading role for the escalation of the militant mobilizations and collective struggle in every way. So that the struggles of the school students continue more decisively for a school that educates and will not be a very expensive exam centre, for exclusively public and free education. We will work for the joint action of school students-parents-militant teachers, providing a combative response to the anti-people political line of the government and EU.”
