KKE: In the frontline of the struggles from today against the new anti-worker storm

see the results

The GS of the CC of the KKE noted the following in her first statements after the announcement of the election results of Sunday May 6th:

“The election results definitely show a reversal of the political scene we were familiar with, the interruption of the rotation of the two parties, PASOK and ND. We are moving into a transitional phase where there will be an attempt to create a new political scene with new formations, new figures with a centre-right orientation or based on a new social democracy that will have SYRIZA at its core, aimed at preventing the rising radicalism of the people that would lead things towards a true overthrow in favour of the people. There will be an attempt to form a government either from these elections or from the elections to follow, a government made up of all parties, or a government of national unity, or a coalition government aimed precisely at preventing the creation of a majority current that will struggle for change.

A Vast Crowd of People Attended the Election Rally of the KKE in Athens

Trust the KKE which they cannot subjugate

The GS of the CC of the KKE, Aleka Papariga, spoke at a large election rally in the centre of Athens on Wednesday, 2nd of May.

Aleka Papariga noted from the podium of the rally:

“Trust the KKE, in the face of the storm which has already been announced.

The working men and women, the poor employees, professionals and farmers, even if they did not participate in strikes and other mobilizations, can and must vote with their class and political instinct as the main criterion.

Statement of the GS of the CC of the KKE, Aleka Papariga, on the French Presidential Elections

The French elections, their results in the first round and what is being prepared for the second round are an important lesson and confirm the reasons why the KKE refuses to participate in the front of the so-called anti-memorandum forces and the so-called left forces. When a communist party, when a labour movement assimilates the protests of the popular masses into a left alliance which accepts the negotiation exclusively within the European Union and the social dialogue with the monopolies, then there can only be one outcome which is what we can now witness in relation to the second round in France: For the people to be led in turn to vote either for the liberal party or for social-democracy and for radicalism to be undermined and blunted and for conservatism to spread.

Striking Steelworkers-Unbowed, have entered the 6th month of their magnificent strike-International solidarity is a valuable support for them

..see the  video about the steelworkers strike

A large crowd of people took part in a rally-solidarity concert last Sunday and gave new impetus and militant strength to the striking steelworkers, who have been conducting their heroic strike for 157 days, almost 6 months of struggle. At this event PAME handed over to the union’s administration the third instalment of the financial support which it has collected. At the same time, the moving wave of international class solidarity continues undiminished with financial and other assistance organized by the class oriented-militant forces from all over the world.

  • Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators shouted all across the country: “ The government with the criminal political line must leave now, together with the Troika. No memorandum must be signed. No new agreement. The plutocracy must pay.”
  • The demonstration of PAME in Athens was stunning. Very large demonstrations all across the country.
  • The workers fearlessly dealt with the organized plan of the state to repress the demonstration.

With magnificent rallies in Athens and dozens of Greek cities, the working class, the other popular strata and youth demanded that the new memorandum not be approved in Parliament., giving a decisive response to the anti-people political line and the government blackmail. This was the largest demonstration of recent decades, characterized by the great mass rally of PAME and the class-oriented trade unions with demands against the Loan Agreement, for the overthrow of the anti-people political line, disengagement from the EU with the unilateral cancellation of the debt, with people’s power so that the country’s wealth can be utilised and provide prosperity for the people.

The KKE hung a banner from the rock of the Acropolis with the slogan: Down with the dictatorship of the monopolies-EU

The KKE hung 2 giant banners from the rock of the Acropolis on Saturday morning, the second day of the 48hr general strike. Hundreds of members of the KKE holding red flags and shouting slogans against the barbaric measures of the government-EU-plutocracy called on the people to a general rising up and state of alert.

The KKE, through this symbolic move, calls on the working class, poor popular strata and youth to enter the decisive struggle with the general slogan " Down with the dictatorship of the monopolies-EU" to demand "Down with the government, disengagement from the EU, unilateral cancellation of the debt with people's power."

1st Day of the 48hr Strike: Strike struggle with the occupation of the Ministry of Labour

Down with the government and the plutocracy, disengagement from the EU with people’s power

With a militant strike rally in Athens as well as in dozens of cities, the working men and women, the poor popular strata responded to PAME’s call by participating in the first day of the 48hr general strike, (10-11/2/2012).

PAME’s forces in a decisive move occupied the Ministry of Labour and hung a huge banner on which the following was written: “No to the new massacre of the people- Down with the Government- The Troika must go- Disengagement from the EU.” This occupation highlighted that the government-Troika-plutocracy have a plan to eradicate every labour right, pushing forward savage anti-worker measures in this period, with the pretext of the new loan which the Greek government wants to receive. Amongst other things the new measures provide for

  • New reductions in the minimum wage of 22% for all the workers and 32% for those who will now be hired in the private sector, and this in conditions when the losses of the workers since 2009 surpass the 45% mark. Abolition of sectorial collective bargaining agreements.
  • New dramatic reductions in the basic and supplementary pensions.
  • Mass dismissals of thousands of employees in the public sector and the former state industries, overturning of labour relations, new reductions in salaries in the public sector.
  • New drastic cuts in social services, in the Health sector and medicines, which are even placing human lives in danger.
  • New tax raid against the broad popular strata in order to support the tax exemptions of big capital.

Loud strike message for the escalation of the working class struggle against the new round of barbaric measures

A mass militant strike took place in Greece on Tuesday 7/2. It was an immediate dynamic response the morning after the official announcements of the government concerning 20% cuts to the basic wages and corresponding 15% cuts to the supplementary pensions, new reductions of the basic pensions, unemployment benefits, and 150,000 dismissals in the public sector.

In Athens there was a demonstration of thousands of workers despite the rain and in 61 cities all over the country there were large strike rallies. Once again the demonstration of PAME was many times larger than that of GSEE and ADEDY.

Mass and militant youth demonstration of KNE in Athens, against the legalization of drugs

Hundreds of members of KNE and friends of the organization took part in the demonstration, 2/2, in the centre of Athens against the draft law of the three-party government (social-democrats-conservatives-nationalists) which legalizes the use, trafficking and supply of drugs.

Speaking at the rally, Giorgos Sideris, member of the Bureau of the CC of KNE, spoke about the issue of drugs in its entirety, revealing the lies and rottenness of the ideological constructs which accompany the “Drug Code”. As he stressed:

“Under the pressure of the communists and the condemnation of the people, the Minister of Justice in his statement today has left open the possibility of the draft law being withdrawn. We are not complacent, we will not stop, we are in a state of vigilance, we will continue more dynamically (…)
