MECYO:20th Meeting of European Communist Youth Organisations to be held in Athens on 14–16 November

On 13 August, the Working Group of the Meeting of European Communist Youth Organisations (MECYO) convened in Madrid and unanimously decided that the 20th MECYO will be hosted by KNE in Athens from 14 to 16 November 2026.

KNE was represented by Giannis Vasileiadis, member of the Bureau of the Central Council of KNE, and Giorgos Chalikias, member of the International Relations Committee of the Central Council of KNE.

Based on a proposal by KNE that was adopted by the other Organisations, the theme of the upcoming Meeting will be:

We continue the struggle against imperialist wars, poverty, exploitation and the system that breeds them. Solidarity with the peoples in struggle!

Throughout its long course from 2000 to the present day, MECYO has established itself as an important forum for the exchange of experience and for the development and coordination of the common struggle of Communist Youth Organizations across Europe.

Particularly under the present conditions of the generalisation of the imperialist war and the war preparations of the bourgeois states, it is crucial to place at the centre the struggle of the Communist Youth Organisations against the involvement of their countries in the slaughter, for a society that will abolish the cause that gives rise to wars, for socialism–communism. It is important to strengthen the exchange of experience and conclusions drawn from the struggles developing in each country.

The Working Group also decided that, in the framework of the Meeting, an Ideological Seminar will be held on the theme “The struggle of the Communist Youth Organizations against anti-communism and repression, which are intensifying under conditions of escalation of imperialist war”
