KKE – KNE:Demarche to the Embassy of Ukraine demanding the release of M. and A. Kononovich

On Friday 11/03, a KKE and KNE delegation made a demarche at the Embassy of Ukrainein Greece, demanding the immediate release of Ukrainian Communists Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich.

The KKE and KNE delegation consisted of Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, MEP of the KKE, Giannis Delis, MP of the KKE, Nikos Zacharopoulos, member of the Bureau of the Central Council of KNE, and ArgyrisBalerbas, member of the International Relations Committee of KNE. The delegation delivered a demarche to Volodymyr Liashenko,First Secretary of Political Affairsof the Embassy of Ukraine in Athens, who stated that the demand would be forwarded to Kyiv.

With this demarche, the KKE and the KNE denounced the arrest of the First Secretary of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Ukraine, Mikhail Kononovich, and his brother Aleksander, calling upon the Ukrainian authorities to immediately release the two arrested young communistsand to lift all anti-communist persecutions and bans in the country.
