With life standing against profits - side by side with workers and with the relatives of the victims of the pre-announced crime in Tempe- the new generation does not forget; anger flares up and becomes a demand for justice. To the very end! Until the blood-stained rails of profit are torn out!

This message was sent by the Student Associations of Athens through the event they organized at the Athens University of Economics to mark three years since the crime in Tempe, entitled: “We Do Not Forget – We Do Not Forgive – Their Profits or Our Lives.”

The event was the first emblematic initiative of the student associations, which, with all their strength, are proceeding in the coming period with multifaceted activities, culminating in the rallies on 26 February together with secondary school students, and on 28 February together with trade unions, mass organizations, and the relatives of the victims.

In this way, they continue and strengthen the struggle, collectively and in an organized manner, against the organized attempt at a cover-up, against the continuation of the policy that preserves all those factors that give rise to new Tempi tragedies on a daily basis. On this path—through which the real vindication of the victims also passes—they stated that they will continue, together with the trade unions that are standing their ground and that were represented at the event, highlighting the class character of this struggle.

Speakers at the event were: Eleni Vasara, Secretary of the Association of Relatives of the Victims in Tempe; Nikos Tsaklidis, member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Train Employees’ Union and a relative of a victim; Phoivos Kaperonis, member of the Board of Directors of the Air Traffic Controllers’ Union; and Antonis Papadopoulos, President of the Student Association of the School of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In addition, a recorded intervention by Saray Jimenez, General Secretary of the Student Front in Spain was screened, sharing the experience gained from organizing Spanish students’ action in the aftermath of recent rail accidents in their country—accidents rooted in the same causes as the crime in Tempe.
