The political and cultural events of the 3-day 47th festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) and its journal “Odigitis”, which took place in a park in the popular neighbourhoods of western Athens, culminated with the speech of the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas.
For 3 consecutive days, tens of thousands of people visited the festival and got acquainted with the positions of the KKE and KNE on issues of topicality (such as the trade unions’ struggle against the anti-popular policies of the government–the capital–the EU, the problems faced by the people affected by wildfires, environmental issues, the problems faced by immigrants) in specially arranged scenes within the park.
They had the chance to participate in discussions about the importance and the contemporary message of the Paris Commune, the developments in Afghanistan, and the solidarity with the Cuban people.
Moreover, they were able to visit the great exhibition on the Paris Commune and the bookshop of “Synchroni Epochi” to get stocked with political, scientific, and literature books among thousands of different titles.
The return of the “International City” caused a sensation, as it was the first in person event of communist youth organizations after the COVID-19 restrictions. It was attended by delegations of 24 youth organizations from all over the world.
More than 70 renowned artists held concerts in 5 different stages, while special events for children took place in a separate area.
As Nikos Ambatielos, Secretary of the CC of KNE, noted in his speech: “All the course of the festival, from mid-summer when it started to be held across the country until today that it is completed with the central events here in Athens, allows us to talk about one of the most mass, dynamic, and successful festivals of recent years”.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas: “Join the KKE so that the people can breathe; for the society of true freedom, socialism”.
