Following the call of the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE), trade unions, self-employed associations, student associations and the Federation of Greek Women (OGE), a mobilization took place on the morning of Tuesday 6/10/20 against the visit of the NATO Secretary General, J. Stoltenberg, in Athens. The protesters demanded: " Go away war hawk – immediate disengagement from the imperialist plans of NATO and the EU."

Shouting slogans such as: "No to NATO’s protection – immediate disengagement from the predatory alliance", "NATO means juntas and wars", "Shut down bases and headquarters, immediate disengagement from the predatory alliance", "Give money for health and not for NATO slaughterhouses", the protesters marched to the Parliament. In fact, the attempt of the police to limit the demonstration outside the Parliament did not succeed.

The protesters stressed that they will intensify the struggle for:

  • Greece's disentanglement from US-NATO-EU imperialist plans.
  • No change in the borders and the treaties that define them.
  • No bargaining for the co-management of the Aegean.
  • The closure of the Souda base and other euro-atlantic bases.
  • The immediate return of Greek armed forces from missions abroad.
  • The disengagement from NATO – EU, with the people being master in their own land.
