For the third consecutive year, 'Panspoudashtiki KS', the list of KNE in the Universities, has emerged as the first force, based on the final results of the student elections. Specifically, with 100% of the votes counted, the 'Panspoudastiki KS' received 17,170 votes and 32.85% of the votes. 'DAP', the list of the liberal New Democracy, received 13,186 votes and 25.23% and PASP, the list of the social-democratic PASOK, received 5,486 votes, corresponding to a percentage of 10.5%.
Panspoudasistiki KS emerged as the leading force in all University Schools in Athens and in many other cities throughout Greece.
"You have proved that there is a big red thorn in the eye of the government in the universities, and this thorn will never go away!" noted Thodoris Kotsantis, Secretary of the CC of KNE, in his address at the Law School of Athens, where students had gathered to celebrate the victory of 'Panspoudastiki' in the student elections.
Thodoris Kotsantis also stressed: "We continue to ensure that the voice of the students, of the youth, the voice of the struggle is also to be heard loudly in the European elections. On June 9, the carnations of hope will bloom there too, with our Party, the KKE, even stronger. The young generation can make a difference."
He noted that "With their vote, thousands of students sent a message of optimism, questioning the dominant policy, sent a message of rejection of private universities and the degradation of their studies. They sent a message of strengthening the struggle and demand a public, modern and truly free university, for degrees that matter and work with rights.
This was followed by a march through the streets of Athens.
