In the “home” of the Party’s central political activity—a hub of the daily struggle on all fronts and the venue where our Party Congresses are held.

In the “home” of the KKE, whose “foundations” are the History of countless sacrifices. After all, the place where this building stands today used to be a large silk mill—a site of brutal exploitation and employers’ arbitrariness, of arrests and abuse of communists, who organized the struggle of male and female workers.

Here, the building itself- and everything it contains- stand as living testimony to the superiority of the principles of the KKE’s organization and functioning, its worldview, and the sacrifice of its finest sons and daughters so that “man may become truly human”.

All comrades who took part in the work received a commemorative card, specially designed for the hundreds of comrades who participated in the “Red Saturday” and in the preparations for the 22nd Congress of our Party, as well as a badge bearing the Congress logo. On the commemorative card—capturing a moment from the epic struggle of the DSE (Democratic Army of Greece)—there is a photo from the KKE Archive depicting DSE fighters, men and women, working on fortification projects.

From early in the morning, dozens of comrades were assigned to teams and took on tasks—from cleaning the Congress hall, to the display cases with the belongings of our comrades who stood unbending, the showcases with evidence of the titanic struggle of the Democratic Army of Greece, and the final touches to the two exhibitions hosted at the headquarters of the CC, ahead of the 22nd Congress of the Party.

The decoration of the building was completed. The entrance of the offices was dressed with the slogan of the 22nd Congress:

“A powerful KKE, steadfast in every trial, ready to answer history’s call, for socialism!”

Other teams of comrades took on the decoration of the surrounding streets with Party flags and banners, while at the same time work was being carried out throughout the building—in Rizospastis, the offices of the CC Departments, Odigitis, 902.gr, and elsewhere.

Dozens of crews of comrades—cadres and members of the KKE and the KNE—electricians, painters, carpenters. Each craftsperson and their team with the specific duty they had to complete. And when they finished what they had been assigned, they took on the next task.

The planned “Red Saturday” was a picture of  collective care for the place that hosts the Party’s highest process. Because this is how we have learned, as a Party: nothing is ‘not our concern’ and nothing is someone else’s job.
