We stand with the students in the USA who are demonstrating en masse against the ongoing massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza, where 40,000 people, including 20,000 children, have tragically lost their lives over the past 6 months.
We condemn the repression of hundreds of students at Columbia and Yale Universities and the unacceptable arrests. Our support goes out to the students facing a modern witch-hunt, repression and persecution by the so-called ‘progressive’ Biden administration, which at the same time gives billions to the occupying state of Israel to continue the massacre.
These ‘values’ are shared both by the so-called ‘progressives’ in the US and by the governments of the European Union (EU) – including the New Democracy (ND) government in Greece, but also the other parties that swear by the EU – who justify the crimes of the murderous state of Israel by presenting the genocide of the Palestinian people as a ‘right to self-defense’.
The developments in the two universities – which are considered to be among the best in the world – clearly show that those in charge are the owners of the commodified University, the University S.A., who are willing to detain students that pose a threat to their business activities... That is why there is no room for freedom of speech or the free exchange of ideas, as demonstrated by the thousands of students in Greece who opposed the establishment of private universities.
We join our voices with the students in the USA who continue their struggle despite threats of expulsion and sanctions, who stand smiling and with their heads held high despite arrests.
The youth of our country have proved that they are on the right side of History by consistently expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people and fighting against the deepening involvement of our country in wars and massacres. The vote to the KKE in the European elections on 9 June will send a strong message of support to this struggle.
