These days, the Base Organizations of KNE are reaching out to school students across the country, calling on them to take initiatives at every school against the war and Greece’s involvement in it. The full statement follows:

When the murderers “press the button”, it is the peoples who offer a way out of ruin!

The USA and Israel’s war against Iran threatens to set our region ablaze! The fire has reached Cyprus, where a British military base was struck, while schools and airports across the region have been shut down. US bases in Greece are also in the crosshairs of Iranian retaliation!

The whole world is holding its breath! This is not “just another war incident in faraway lands”. It is happening right next to us! The USA, Israel and the EU are butchering peoples and placing the Greek people in grave danger!

We do not believe the lies of the murderers and their mouthpieces on TV and social media!

The first victim of war is the truth!

Everything said about Iran’s “nuclear weapons” or “human rights” is nothing but a pretext.

Fact 1: Last June, the USA and Israel bombed nuclear facilities in Iran, and Trump celebrated their “annihilation”. So what are they bombing now?

Fact 2: Israel has nuclear weapons, has murdered 20,000 children, and continues the genocide in Palestine—with the backing of the Greek government!

Fact 3: Those who pretend to “care about the women in Iran” bombed an elementary school, killing 150 schoolgirls!

Fact 4: The jihadists in Syria and the monarchs in Saudi Arabia—who torture and murder women and children—are allies of the USA and Israel! Their hypocrisy is plain for all to see!

The real reason for the war is control over oil, energy and trade routes—dominance in the Middle East. Behind every crime stands the big business groups’ pursuit of profit. That is what drives the plunder of peoples and wars to redivide markets. Just days ago, thousands of us raised our voices about the crime at Tempi—against the system of profit that murders. We must do the same now! Because the system of profit—capitalism—kills thousands of children across the world and pushes the planet towards the devastation of war!

We will not stay silent! The only ones with the right to determine their future are the peoples of every country—without foreign interventions, threats and ultimatums!

THE GOVERNMENT IS COMPLICIT! ALL INVOLVEMENT MUST STOP—NOW!

The ND government is dragging us deeper into war—for the profits of the Greek shipowners and the construction giants who want a share of the spoils!

Fact 1: It has handed over military bases to the USA, such as Souda in Crete, from where the US aircraft carrier involved in bombing Iran set sail! Now the base at Souda has become a target for Iranian missiles! NATO bases are a death trap—they must be shut down and removed!

Fact 2: The government has sent Greek troops, missiles and warships to the war zone—to guard the sheikhs’ oil in Saudi Arabia and the shipowners’ profits in the Red Sea. It is preparing to send an occupation force to Palestine. All of them must return to Greece!

Fact 3: It sends warships and aircraft to protect the British military bases in Cyprus—the very forces that bear responsibility for the Turkish invasion and occupation! Instead of expelling them from Cyprus, they want us to guard them!

Fact 4: They tell us all this is for “our protection”, while they turn our lives and our country into a target for retaliation in their war. We have no trust in them!

The other parties that embrace these disgraceful pretexts, that “stand to attention” before the USA, NATO and the EU, and that voted to turn the country into a base of operations for war, are ND’s allies!

BASES IN THE CROSSHAIRS- PEOPLE’S LIVES AT RISK!
OUT WITH NATO— rise up everywhere!

We demand:

Greece’s involvement in the war must stop!

The base at Souda and all NATO bases in Greece and Cyprus must close!

Greek military forces must return from the Middle East. No Greek soldier outside the country’s borders!

All Greek workers in the war zone must return home safely.

Military cooperation with the USA and Israel must end.

KNE calls on all school students to make it clear in every way that the imperialists’ war is not our war, and to take initiatives in every school against the war and our country’s involvement in it.

The peoples can turn the tide!

They can write their own history! All that is needed is to carry the struggle through to the end against the system that gives birth to war—to overthrow capitalism.

Hope lies in the peoples’ struggle for a society without exploitation, war and fascism! That society is socialism-communism!
